For Immediate Release November 18, 2005

A new free publication, "Laughter Magazine," is now available on-line, created by local laughter leader and Somerville resident Walter Ness. Walter recently gained fame when he introduced his "Traveling Laughter Club" at Jimmy Tingle's Off-Broadway Theater this past June.

"Laughter Magazine" has articles about medical research on the value of laughter, information about Laughter Clubs both locally and around the world, and original jokes and cartoons. "Laughter Magazine" has been endorsed by the well-known physician and humorist Doctor Patch Adams (who was portrayed in a movie a few years ago by Robin Williams). Dr. Adams wrote, "Dear Walter, I enjoyed your newsletter, it's funny!"

Walter has been writing original jokes and performing stand-up comedy since 1985, and has been an active member of the Arlington (Massachusetts) Laughter Club since 2004. He is especially interested in using laughter as a form of stress relief. He created "Laughter Magazine" because he not only wants to make people laugh, but also wants to help them better understand laughter. Says Walter, "People love to laugh, but they don't understand why it's OK to laugh without a reason!"

Walter designed "Laughter Magazine" so that each page can be freely printed out as a PDF. He says, "I hope my new Laughter Magazine will be enjoyed and shared, not only by individuals who want to laugh, but also for in-house publication, for businesses, schools, or other organizations that need more laughter in their environment."
