There is finally a backlash against the pharmaceutical companies who have been peddling drugs at an alarming rate to children, adolescents and adults. Medicating children who are labeled deviant or experience developmental swings is now giving us pause. Anti-depressants have been prescribed with great frequency by practitioners who listen to complaints from patients of social alienation, interpersonal difficulties, diminished self-esteem, anxiety, distractibility, insomnia and depression. Calls for "alternative" solutions to drugs have been made with increased frequency. Laughter as the best medicine has been resurrected through the work of an Indian physician from Bombay, Dr. Madan Kataria. His work has spawned over 2500 Laughter Clubs throughout the world.
