One of my past lives was during the Dark Ages. I was the head monk in an abbey. Whenever one of the villagers died, his or her body was brought to the abbey and left in an empty room.

It is a well know fact that if a person lived a saintly life their body would not decompose. But if they lived a bad life, their body would start decomposing at an accelerated rate.

It was my job to pick one of the younger monks and tell him, "Go in there and take a whiff and see if that's a saint who just died."
